Mothers, Daughters, and Vampires

"The October Bed" is in Shirley this month! (Yes, that's an homage to the luminous Shirley Jackson.) I really don't know how to categorize this story except to say that it's about aging, loneliness, and the lengths older parents will go to to stay close to their adult daughters... Even when those daughters have died and returned as vicious vampires.

Is it a horror story? Yes, but the vampire isn't the horror element. Not the scariest one, anyway.
